Empty – When does a property become formally empty?

Most properties will be unoccupied at some time even when in use. However, from an insurance perspective, when a property becomes unoccupied, different policy conditions and levels of cover apply. Each insurer has different policy conditions however if the site is unoccupied for in excess of 2-3 months, then generally it would be considered void. Do check your policy conditions and talk to your brokers.
